The AGC National Conference takes place next weekend in Ottawa, ON. The 100th Anniversary of Associated Gospel Churches of Canada will be celebrated at the Metropolitan Bible Church. The delegates from the Somerset congregation were all previous members of the congregation there: Pastor Jeff Peacock, Rick and Val Ross, all of Somerset.

The month of May began with the usual Communion Sunday as well as two families with new babies presenting themselves in dedication to the Christian upbringing of their children. The congregation joins in with a declaration of commitment and support. Matthew and Andrea Penner presented their boy Jayce Everett. Erik and Rachel Picard presented their daughter Ivy Monroe. In the Baby Welcome luncheon that followed the worship service, each family was presented with a personalized baby blanket from the church. The pot luck theme was a Mexican dish which seemed well received!

Erik Picard read the opening announcements. Kevin Friesen and Jamie Small were the music team. Jonathan Timmerman was usher. Pastor Jeff Peacock led the Prayer Focus, read the Scripture lesson (2 Corinthians 3:1-11) and gave the sermon.

The song selections included “This is Amazing Grace”, “His Mercy is More”, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”, “Jesus Loves Me”(offertory), “Lord I Need You” and “My All In All”.

The new Mission of the Month for May is Herbert and Shandi Ives at Dauphin Bible Camp. Herbert’s role is changing from Site Manager to Barn Manager with responsibilities in the horsemanship program which continues beyond the summer kid’s camping programs. See the bulletin for more details.

The sermon focused on vs. 1-6 of the reading. The author the Apostle Paul, speaks in defence of his credibility which has been attacked by false teachers. He was well known to the Corinthian church by his letters and his visits. He calls them his letters of recommendation in v. 2 and his Letter from Christ in v. 3.

Vs. 4-6 speak of confidence and sufficiency: None of us are able by ourselves, but, with God’s call, his provision of strength, perseverance and wisdom, Christians become able to fulfill the ministries they find themselves in.

Rick Ross and Clayton Kimber assisted with serving Communion. The service closed with the benediction.
