News from Isabel Acheson for issue of May 28, 2026

Somerset Bible Chapel

Summer weather is in the forecast and Sunday May 24 was warm and sunny. Ernest Unrau led the opening announcements. Erik Picard was usher. Clayton Kimber led the Prayer Focus. Isabel A. was the Scripture reader: 2 Corinthians 13:1-10 - Final Warnings. The music team was Emery and Katie DeRoo.

The music selections included  a reading Acts 17:24-25, “You Are God Alone”, “My God is all I Need”, “His Mercy is More”, “His Mercy Is More”,  “Your Will Be Done”, “Jesus Paid It All” and in closing “Be Still and Know”.

Pastor Jeff Peacock completed the series of sermons from 2 Corinthians with “Living in Peace”, the final chapter of this epistle of the Apostle Paul to the Christians in Corinth. The summer series of sermons will be looking for questions from the Congregation for suggestions.

Paul had begun his letter indicating he was planning a third visit to Corinth. Acts 18 gives the account of his first visit that established the fellowship there. 1 Cor. 2 indentifies a second visit as a painful visit. His planned 3rd visit is intended to clear up the remnants of interpersonal conflicts in the church body there. His heart of love for them was pained by such discord.

Paul doesn’t claim personal authority. He teaches that God has a pattern for resolving conflicts and has the Authority to deal with the disorderly. Paul is only the ambassador, the messenger.

Paul’s ministry is proven by their genuine faith in the Gospel. He calls them to resolve their conflicts before he arrives.

Pastor Jeff read Romans 10:9-15. Every Christian is called to ministry of the gospel, to show fruit of their faith. Not everyone will see results in their lifetime. Each one should look to their own situation, to their calling, to their giftedness.

Pastor Jeff made special mention of those who are parents discipling their children, to husbands and wives, to each one serving others in the church. “May God bless you in whatever He has called you to do.” The benediction was the final verse of the book, 2 Cor. 13:14.

The “March for Life Walk” in Winkler is now scheduled for Saturday June 27th. Kevin Larson has additional details.
