News from Isabel Acheson for issue of Mar 6, 2025

Somerset Bible Chapel

Sunday March 2 was a full day. The worship service included the Communion celebration. Many stayed for the pot luck lunch and the Family Activity Day that followed.

Somerset Community Hall was the afternoon venue from 1-5 with many youngsters enjoying the two bouncy castles set up there. Others spread out games or puzzles and enjoying visiting over the various activities. A number of skaters took in the Public Skating available at the arena.

The announcements reader was Erik Picard, his dad Rejean was the usher. Rick Ross was the scripture reader and a Communion server along with Clayton Kimber. Pastor Jeff Peacock led the Communion service, the Prayer Focus and gave the sermon. The music team included Jamie and Brianna Small, Kevin Friesen and the AV crew of Ernie Unrau, Kevin Larson and Andrew Peacock.

Musical selections included “His Mercy is More”, “Yes, I Will”, “Micah 6:8”, “Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)”, King of My Heart”, “God is so Good” and, the closing song, “Make me a servant, humble and meek”.

Continuing in Colossians 3, Pastor Jeff selected verses 11-17 to follow up “putting off” from the previous week with the “putting on” part of the Apostle Paul’s instructions.

The message is addressed to the church, to those who are already believers. He emphasizes that though many different people groups are represented, that they are all united in Christ.

Identifying the church as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, Paul points to Compassionate hearts, Kindness, Humility, Meekness, and Patience as the transformation that the Holy Spirit develops in them.

The process continues with forgiving one another, love, harmony, peace, and thankfulness. The closing verses, Col. 3:16-17 emphasize teaching, learning, wisdom, encouragement and with thankfulness in every activity.

The March bulletins were emailed mid-week. April will include the Good Friday breakfast at the church, details to come later. Youth Group evenings are set for March 12 and 26th, April 9th and 23rd.

Monthly bulletins and previous reports are available on the website www.somersetbiblechapel.com
