Pastor Jeff Peacock with guitar, accompanied by daughter Michayla on vocals and Jamie Small on piano, led the music ministry for Sunday June 1. Many of the selections were preceded by MIchayla’s reading of the related Bible text. The songs chosen included “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing”, “Better is One Day” (from Psalm 84), “Who Am I”, “Your Love, O Lord”, “You Are My King”(Amazing Love), and “I Love You Lord”.
Jamie Grenier presented the announcements to open the worship service. Erik Picard served as usher for the collection, Kevin Friesen led the Prayer Focus, and Jamie Small read the scripture lesson from 2 Corinthians 4:16-18.
Pastor Jeff Peacock, in his sermon on 2 Cor. 4:16-18 - “Do Not Lose Heart”. The author, the apostle Paul, strongly encourages the believers by reminding them that they are filled with the gospel of Christ, that they are empowered by the Holy Spirit, that even though at times life is hard in this sin-stained world, the healing hands of the Creator never fail.
“Paul’s encouragement is rooted in reality, rather than in platitudes”. Paul, later in this epistle, describes some of his sufferings. The physical body ages and wastes away, but the inner person (the soul) is strengthened and renewed day by day.
Paul speaks of his hardships as being light and momentary afflictions, compared to the weight of eternal glory being far beyond what one could imagine.
The endurance comes about with being focused on Christ, on the promise and hope of life eternal.
The sermon closed with prayer. The singing of “The Doxology” and a Benediction closed the service.
The new Mission of the Month for June is the Youth Ministries. Prayer requests include wisdom and guidance for planning the next season, and for the volunteers that help make it happen.
The youth group season closes in June with a Wind-up Party/Grad celebration. Three grads are being recognized in the bulletin: Hannah Graham, Brooke Van Den Bussche, and Connor Grenier.
The Sunday School season ends June 15, and the summer schedule will begin with a coffee fellowship at 10 a.m with the worship service at the usual time of 10:30 a.m.
