Sunday June 22 began the summer schedule of 10 a.m. coffee fellowship in the lower hall prior to the 10:30 a.m. worship service in the main auditorium.
Pastor Jeff Peacock led the music as well as giving the sermon. Michayla P. read the announcements as well as assisting with music leadership. Byron Timmerman was usher, Clayton Kimber led the Prayer Focus and Michelle Friesen read the Bible Lesson from 2 Corinthians 5:16-21.
The music selections and readings followed a theme of Praise. Romans 11:33-36 with “I Stand Amazed” and “Only a Holy God”; Psalm 89:5-8 with “Our God Is An Awesome God” and “Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me”; Psalm 145:3, 5-9 with “How Great Is Our God” and “How Great Thou Art”. Pastor Jeff closed the singing with prayer.
“The Ministry of Reconciliation-Part 2” sermon on 2 Cor. 5:16-21 by Pastor Jeff builds to the highlight in verse 21 of the greatest teaching on atonement in Christ. “For our sake he (God the Father) made him (Jesus, God the Son) to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
In verse 16, the author Paul has pointed out that the redeemed and transformed follower of Christ no longer sees the same way as the natural man, but has a worldview that includes eternity. Paul himself had been stopped in his tracks (Acts 9) and met the risen Christ asking “What are you doing? Where are you going?”. Man becomes a new creature. “I am no longer what I once was!”
In Salvation, man is pulled by God from death (eternal punishment) to life (with God in Glory). The misplaced expectation that “I don’t have to do anything” is replaced with the commands of God to go, to tell, to teach, to disciple, to be His ambassadors to the rest of the world.
Congratulations to Tyler Unrau and Nicole Thielmann who were married Sat. June 21 at Miami Event Centre with Pastor Jeff Peacock officiating.
Youth Group concluded the school year season with a wind-up and Grad Party on Wednesday evening June 18. Day Camp has been cancelled for 2025. Plans are underway to resume in 2026.
