Father’s Day Sunday June 18 opened with the summer schedule of coffee fellowship at 10 followed by worship service at 10:30 a.m.
Abe Klassen opened with the announcements. Rejean and Carol Picard were the music team. “Holy, Holy, Holy”, “There is a Redeemer” and “Yet Not I But Through Christ in Me” songs were followed by the offering. The Prayer Focus was led by Pastor Jeff Peacock.
“The River” and “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” led to the sermon by Pastor Jeff.
Coffee Cup Verses, the summer sermon series, focused on John 3:16. Pastor Jeff gave context by giving an overview of the whole chapter as well as dealing with many phrases in the verse. Nicodemus, a religious leader, comes to Jesus to learn who he is. Jesus explains himself as Messiah and Son of God. Jesus also explains the “New Birth” of those who believe in Him and the nature of atonement. Questions posed included “Why”, “How much”, and critical values.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” This along with the other verses in 3:13-18 summarize salvation.
The sermon closed with prayer. The closing song was a sung version of “God so Loved the World” and Pastor Jeff gave the benediction.
The monthly men’s breakfast meeting was held at the church Sat. the 17th with a discussion theme on the Holiness of God.
The youth group wound up their regular season Wed. the 14th, with an event at the Byron & Tammy Timmerman farm yard, with a salute to the high school graduates of the group.
