Rejean Picard gave the announcements to open the Worship Service on Sunday June 29th. Next weekend is to be a Church Family Camp-out Weekend at Stephenfield Park. The Sunday Worship Service for July 6 is set for 10:30 a.m. in Bay 5 of the Campground.

The worship team of Kevin and Michelle Friesen led the singing: “Come thou Fount”, “The Solid Rock”, “All Hail the Power”, an interlude for offering, “What Blessed Assurance”, “What He’s Done”, “His Mercy is More” with “Refiner’s Fire” as the closing song.

Kevin F. also led the Prayer Focus, Jonathan Timmerman served as usher, Lorna Unrau read the Scripture Lesson from Matthew 18:1-9.

“Who Is The Greatest?” was the question that set the context for Pastor Jeff Peacock as he began a summer series of Messages. We have all seen how it goes in schoolyard picks: Two captains chose from those who have the game skills, some are bouncing “Pick me, pick me”, while others hope they won’t be last chosen.

The disciples were trying to figure out the hierarchy of heaven, this Kingdom of God, that Jesus was teaching. Jesus’ response was to use the example of a small child to illustrate a person’s qualifications to take leadership and responsibilities.

One who receives humble believers in the name of Christ represents their reception of Jesus. This “receiving” indicates welcoming arms, loving care, and acceptance. The contrast for one who causes “a child” to sin is extreme punishment.

Jesus directs his hearers to remove the temptations from their lives. This continues to apply to personal sin and to corporate sin. The closing prayer included a plea to enable us to take temptation seriously, to help us to become what we are called to be.
