News from Isabel Acheson for issue of July 23, 2026
Somerset Bible Chapel
Sunday July 19 the Worship Service opened with Rachel Picard (and young Ivy on her arm) reading the announcements. With Day Camp set-up that afternoon and the Camp Sessions the next four days, her enthusiasm was very evident.
The worship team was the Peacock family: Pastor Jeff song leader with guitar, Alanna and Rebekah assisting with vocals and readings, Caleb at the video controls.
Rejean Picard was usher, Clayton Kimber led the Prayer Focus, and Rick Ross read the Bible lesson from Ephesians 1:3-10.
The musical selections included “Shout To The Lord”, “Holy Forever”, “Holy, Holy, Holy”, “Yet Not I, But Through Christ In Me”, “Jesus Messiah” and “The Wonderful Cross”.
Pastor Jeff Peacock began his summer sermon series “I’m Glad You Asked” with a teaching session that found him seated in front of the pulpit and the usher passing out study outlines. The lesson title was “What Does It Mean That God Saves Us?”
Pastor Jeff outlined several theological perspectives that have appeared in church history. He dealt with the terms “Salvation”, “Foreknowledge”, “Election”, “Predestination”. He explored the Bible teachings on “Original Sin”, “Total Depravity”, and “Total Inability” to satisfy the holy, righteous Sovreign God with questions and comments from the audience.
The whole study arose out of questions submitted for the summer series. Several analogies were presented by Pastor Jeff and other speakers to explain relationships between the various terms.
Vacation Bible School (VBS) for ages 3-8 has been set for August 10-12, Mon - Wed, 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the church.
Summer schedule continues with coffee at 10 a.m. and the worship service at 10:30 each Sunday morning.
