Erik Picard was usher, Kevin Friesen led Prayer Focus, Pastor Jeff Peacock did the Advent reading with his wife Alanna as the candlelighter. Isabel A read the Bible lesson from 2 Corinthians 1:15-20.

The Second Advent candle - the Bethlehem candle - came with a reading about preparation. Isaiah 11:1-6 was included. Pastor Jeff also led the Communion service with Rick Ross helping to serve.

The sermon subject “The Preeminence of Christ” used Paul’s strong defence of the Deity of Jesus. In 2 Cor. 1:15-20, in a rapid fire sequence, many characteristics are listed. The image of the Invisible God. The creator of all material and spiritual creation. He holds the universe together, sustaining all of creation. He is eternal (before time). He is head of the body, the church. In him is all the Fullness of God.

The sermon closed with a re-reading of the text continuing on 2 more verses to cover the opportunity for people to be reconciled to the Holy God. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus at Christmas, we see Him as born to give us life. The closing hymn was “Away In a Manger”.

After lunch at the church about 5 families did a Christmas Carol program at the Somerset Manor and at the Swan Lake Seniors Home. Ernest Unrau was song leader with wife Lorna at the piano. Pastor Jeff had a brief devotional reading at each place.
