Happy Mother’s Day to those who read this. The congregation was augmented by a number of visiting families celebrating the occasion of believer’s baptism for two young men. 

Following the worship service, the mothers were honoured with a luncheon prepared and served by the men and youth. Lots of food for all who came and stayed. 

Rachel Picard read the opening announcements, highlighting the Day Camp planned for July 20-23 at Mary Jane Park for ages 9-15 (born 2011-2017). Erik Picard served as usher. Rick Ross led the Prayer Focus. Michelle Friesen was the Scripture reader: Matthew 28:18-20 - The Great Commission. 

The music team was Pastor Jeff and Alanna Peacock, with son Andrew at the video console, Ernest Unrau at audio controls and Kevin Larson supervising live stream.

The music selections included “Lord, I Lift Your Name”, “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)”, “Amazing Grace”, “Be thou My Vision”, a reading of Psalm 51:1-12, “Create In Me a Clean Heart” and “You Are My King”.

Pastor Jeff opened his address with a tribute to mothers. He also offered kindness to those for whom Mother’s Day is difficult. He then shared briefly some words about Baptism. 

The Christian church practices baptism for several reasons. Because Jesus did it (Matt. 3:13-17); because the early church did it (Acts 2:36 and other references); and because Jesus commanded it (Matt. 28:20). 

Baptism is for disciples of Jesus, the Christ. Baptism is a command. Baptism is obedience. Baptism is Symbolic: an outer expression of an inner conversion. 

Baptism is not restricted only to the mode of immersion, although that is the normal practice in our church. Baptism does not require a class beforehand but classes are recommended. Baptism is not required for salvation, but it is a step of obedience for a believer in Christ Jesus. Baptism is not a requirement for membership in the church, but official membership in a local congregation is encouraged. 

The congregation moved outdoors for the Baptism ceremony. Each candidate had an encourager to speak before him: DeeAnn Grenier grandmother for Quinten Grenier and Clayton Kimber father for Tory Kimber. Pastor Jeff Peacock officiated.
