Church Family Campout Weekend July 12 to 14 was at Stephenfield Park. Saturday features included Kids Games with Rachel, Boat rides/beach time and fishing, Potluck supper and a group evening fire and worship.
The Sunday Worship service was held in the shade behind Bay 5 Picnic Shelter. A small generator provided power for a portable PA system. Kevin Friesen led singing with guitar accompanied by Jamie Small on box drum/other percussion.
The worship time opened with Michelle Friesen giving the announcements. The usual video support for singing was not operational so many sang from memory or looked up lyrics on their phones. The songs used were “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High”, “This is the Day”, “Open the Eyes of My Heart” and “Come All You Thirsty” (For God so Loved).
Jonathan Timmerman served as usher. Clayton Kimber led the Prayer Focus. Rachel Picard read the Bible Lesson Galatians 5:16-23. Pastor Jeff Peacock continued his series on the “Fruit of The Spirit”. Clayton also gave the closing prayer after the Baptism service.
Kindness, Goodness, and Faithfulness are all very much related. Kindness is the apparent, visible, outward expression of an inward compassion and caring. Goodness is related to acts of kindness that flow from an attitude of generosity. Faithfulness implies constancy, dependability, trustworthiness, and consistency.
The Perfect Example of these virtues is God Himself and His Son Jesus Christ. The ability of a Christian to follow the example is enabled by the Holy Spirit within.
As God’s disciples, Christians are to be more Kind, Good, and Faithful because we have met and are learning to be more like Jesus.
A celebration of Believer’s Baptism concluded the worship time. The congregation moved to an area along the lakeshore where Pastor Jeff officiated the ordinance for one candidate, Talitha Klassen.
Rachel gave directions for the lunch serving and said Grace for the meal. By early afternoon many were packing up and heading home.
Regular Sunday services will continue summer schedule at the church, 104-1st St. in Somerset with a coffee time at 10 and Worship service at 10:30. The July Mens Breakfast meeting will be Sat. July 20. Day Camp begins July 22 at the church.
