Sunday April 7, the spring congregational meeting was held after the worship service and lunch. This was the first meeting with Jamie Small as chairman, Emery DeRoo as treasurer and Rachel Picard as Christian Education Committee chair giving reports.
The morning worship service began with Erik Picard leading the announcements. The Youth Group will have Guys Night/Girls Night activities on Friday April 12.
The music team, Kevin Friesen with guitar, Brianna Small with bass guitar and Jamie Small at piano led in “Rescuer”, “His Mercy is More” and “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever”. Jonathan Timmerman served as usher. Jamie Small with guitar sang “Battle Belongs” by Phil Wickham as offertory.
Pastor Jeff Peacock introduced the Communion service with a personal update and a brief meditation on sensing the presence of God in one’s life and relationships. The lyrics of the old hymn “Rock of Ages” were highlighted. Elders Rick Ross and Clayton Kimber were servers. “I Stand in Awe of You” and “Bless the Lord O My Soul” (10,000 Reasons) were the songs.
Pastor Jeff led the Prayer Focus, then turned to Galatians 1:1-10 for the day’s lesson. Paul the Apostle begins this letter to the churches in Galatia expressing strongly his concern for them being led astray by false teachers. He reminds them that the work of Christ on the cross is enough for one’s salvation, that none of man’s works in following legalistic movements are suitable.
A second lesson was read from 2 Timothy 4:1-5 reminding Christians of the responsibility to preach and teach the Word of God to all mankind, that each one might be prepared for God’s time of Judgement. The Christian has the presence of the Holy Spirit to be enabled to carry out their ministry.
The service closed with “Amazing Grace (Chains are Gone)” and Psalm 34:1-2.
Pastor Jeff with sons Caleb and Andrew were visitors to Millar College of the Bible recently for a basketball camp. An evening worship feature was Replica, a college tour group that will be visiting Crystal City Cornerstone Church April 24.
Sunday the 14th is to be a Pulpit Exchange with Bob Coutts of Glenboro Bible Chapel visiting Somerset.
