Sunday November 10 in the Sunday School hour, the adult class was led by Kevin Friesen on the topic of “Praise and Worship”. Both the Biblical descriptions and the practices of the congregation were described.
The Worship hour began with Brian Klassen reviewing the announcements. Kevin Friesen led the music team and began with “Praise Is Rising” and prayer. Alinka VanDonkelaar read a call to worship from Psalm 95:6-7. “Rescuer” (credit to Rend Collection) and “Onward Christian Soldiers” completed the first set.
Mike DeRoo served as usher with Alinka singing “Here I Am to Worship” accompanied by Kevin on guitar. The second song set for the congregation continued with “Yes, I Will”, “You Are My All In All”, and “I Surender All”.
Peter Friesen led the Prayer Focus. Brian Klassen was the guest speaker.
As the men of the church provide occasional pulpit supply they are currently working on the book of Ephesians. Brian’s text was Eph. 2:1-10. He outlined three sections: v. 1-3 remembering who we were; v. 4-9 remembering who God is and what He has done; and, v. 10 God is active and intentional in our sanctification.
He summarized that everything about salvation and sanctification is the work of God. A music video “Not In Me” concluded the message and the benediction was from 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17.
Next Sunday Nov. 17 will include the fall congregational meeting. A pot luck lunch after the worship service will precede the business agenda. The Adult Christmas supper event is set for Friday Nov. 29. Reservations may be made with Carol Picard. In lieu of a gift exchange, a collection will be made for assistance to a refugee family.
Practices are beginning for the Sunday School Christmas program set for Sunday, December 15 in the evening. More details to follow.
